kanenai it may be possible

Today's grammar point is kanenai (～かねない), which is used in sentence structures such
as, [verb. masu stem] + [kanenai] and means "it is very possible" or "it might." Please note
that it is used to say that it's very possible something undesirable will happen.
Today's Examples:
家を建てた後に悪いことばかりが起こるなんてことになりかねないのよ！
いえをたてたあとにわるいことばかりがおこるなんてことになりかねないのよ！
It's very possible that bad things will happen one after another once the house is built.
お義母さんに、私達の家をめちゃくちゃにされかねないわ。
おかあさんに、わたしたちのいえをめちゃくちゃにされかねないわ。
Our house will be a disaster at the hands of my stepmother.
Formation:
* Verb. masu stem + [kanenai]
壊す/こわす壊し(ます) 壊し かねないsomeone might
destroy something
怒る/おこる怒り(ます) 怒り かねないsomeone might get
angry
捨てる/すてる捨て(ます) 捨て かねないsomeone might throw
away
Examples:
彼女にそんなことを言ったら、家出しかねない。
かのじょにそんなことをいったら、いえでしかねない。
If I say such things to her, she might leave home.
そんな生活を続けていたら、病気になりかねない。
そんなせいかつをつづけていたら、びょうきになりかねない。
